Solomon's Porch Retreat Center Guidelines

Welcome to Solomon's Porch Retreat Center!
We trust and pray your stay with us will be an enjoyable one. For security, safety, and other reasons, there are a few items your team needs to be aware of. PLEASE pass a copy of these guidelines to everyone on your team and discuss prior to coming. By knowing and following these simple guidelines everyone will have a more joyful time.
Due to the great number of people staying at the Porch, we are asking for your patience and understanding. Please help us ensure everyone has a pleasant stay by remembering the following:
- PARKING: Parking is always a problem due to the limited parking spaces around Solomon's Porch. Only park in front of the building while loading or unloading. All other times, park in the designated parking lot. We will give more instruction when you check in.
- SOLOMON'S PORCH:
- We have quiet time from 10:00pm until 7:00 am. (Teams need their rest)
- No running in building.
- No children are to use the elevator without adult supervision.
- Please only use elevator when carrying luggage. Use stairs otherwise, if possible.
- Stay on assigned floor except when leaving building, getting ice, or using phone.
- Your team leader is responsible for room and sleeping arrangements.
- Never use showers, restrooms, kitchens, or enter rooms on other floors.
- ALWAYS KEEP HALLWAYS CLEAN
- BEDROOMS: Please do not rearrange furniture, beds, or other items.
- BATHROOMS AND SHOWER ROOMS: Please remember, with the number of people staying, be courteous of others. When the building is filled to capacity with guest, the hot water will run out as people shower. Please limit your shower time so others will have enough hot water.
- DOORS: The first floor door will be unlocked from 8:00am to 10:00pm daily. Please do not leave other doors open or unlocked.
- CHECK-IN: You may check in anytime until 5:00pm. If you will be later than this, please contact Rick or Kristi Hunter to make other arrangements.
- CHECK-OUT TIME: If you will be checking out later than 2:00pm, please let us know.
- CHECK OUT PROCEDURE: To keep costs down to a minimum, we need your help in keeping the facilities as clean as possible. We ask that you help us by cleaning your rooms, restrooms, shower rooms, kitchen, and dining areas. Please be good stewards of all the Lord has entrusted to our care. THANKS!
- PHONE: Most cell phones do not work in Lynch. We have a phone on the first floor for team members to use. You will need a phone card. Due to the number of people using the phone, there is a 5 minute limit for each use.
- GIFT SHOP: There is a gift shop located in the first floor lobby.
- LAUNDROMAT: There is a laundromat located in Cumberland should your group need one.
- EMERGENCIES: Tri-City Clinic is located in Cumberland. Their hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday thru Friday. They can be reached at 606-589-0130. The Appalachian Regional Hospital is located in Harlan. They can be reached at 606-573-8100.
- NO SMOKING
- NO PETS
- Dress: Since most of the work mission groups will be doing with us is hands on or labor intensive, we ask that you do not wear flip flops or sandals. Please wear boots or tennis shoes to work sites. Also, no spaghetti string shirts, low cut tank tops, or short shorts at work sites, please.
